Tesla Motors (TSLA) has delayed the launch of its Model X to the third quarter of 2015.

tesla-model-x-tslaThe Tesla Model X is being delayed because the electric car manufacturer wants to run more tests on the vehicle. CEO Elon Musk said that the delay hurts the company in the short term, but that it will be better in the long term. He said he didn’t want to release a vehicle that wouldn’t satisfy customers, reports Cnet.

This is the second time that the Tesla Model X has been delayed. It was first scheduled to be released in 2013, but then it was delayed until 2014. Musk commented that it’s really hard to manufacture something, IGN notes.

The Tesla Model X isn’t the only thing that TSLA is slipping on. The company has also taken longer than expected to bring upgrades to its Model S assembly line. This has resulted in the company lowering production numbers for the vehicle by 2,000 units, Cnet notes.
