Dish Network (DISH) and Netflix (NFLX) have signed a deal that will bring the streaming service to the satellite company’s set-top box.

dish-netflix-nflxThe deal between Dish and Netflix means that subscribers of the satellite service that have one of its Hoppers can use it to control the streaming service. This will allow subscribers to use their remotes for the service and it will run thought same connections as the Hopper, reports Time.

The deal between Netflix and Dish is the first time that a major TV provider in the United States has teamed up with the streaming service. Owners of a Hopper should know that this deal doesn’t mean Netflix is free to them, only that it’s easier to access, Time notes.

“Many households subscribe to both Netflix and a traditional pay-TV service,”Bill Holmes, head of business development for Netflix, told PC Magazine. “Our vast library of TV shows and movies, combined with Dish’s lineup of live television content, gives customers easy access to a wide variety of complementary programming.”

DISH shares were up 1% as of Wednesday afternoon and NFLX  shares were up 5%.
