Cablevision Systems (NYSE:CVC) is suing Verizon Communications (NYSE:VZ) over its claim of having the fastest Wi-Fi.

cablevision-verizon-cvc-vzCablevision filed the lawsuit with a U.S. District Court in New York on Thursday. The company claims that Verizon’s claim is designed to undercut its own Wi-Fi offerings in the area. Verizon claims the lawsuit is an attempt by the company to sell its own Wi-Fi, reports The Consumerist.

According to Cablecision, there’s no way that Verizon can guarantee it offers the fastest Wi-Fi in the area. It claims that they both offer customers the AC1750, 802.11ac routers, which operate at the same speeds, The Consumerist notes.

Cablevision’s lawsuit is seeking to stop Verizon from claiming it has the fastest Wi-Fi. The company is also seeking damages from what it claims is false advertising, reports Reuters.
