Connecticut lawmakers are considering allowing Tesla Motors (TSLA) to sell cars in the state.

tesla-tsla-connecticutAntonio Guerrera, co-chairman of the Connecticut’s Transportation Committee, plans to hold an open discussion about Tesla selling cars in the state. The state currently only allows dealerships to sell cars, but roughly 500 people living in the state own a Tesla, reports Hartford Courant.

Arguments for allowing Tesla to sell its cars directly to customers in the state include it adding jobs due to the creation of showrooms for the company’s products. However, others argue that allowing direct sales could be a problem for customers if the company ever goes under. Tesla is also being invited to the open discussion to argue why it should be allowed direct sales in the state, Hartford Courant notes.

“I think it’s something we need to talk about and have a conversation about it, and have experts tell us why it’s good and why it’s not good,” Guerrera told the Associated Press.
