After the post has been reviewed, the social media company will offer advice to the person that posted the message. It will also try to connect them to a friend or mental health institution.

The person that reports the message with the new suicide prevention feature also has additional options available to them. These options include letting them call their friend that posted the message, contact another friend for help or get in touch with a professional or the suicide hotline for assistance.

The new suicide prevention features were brought to Facebook with the help of several groups that have experience in the area. These groups include  Forefront, Now Matters Now, the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline, Save.org and others. The new features were announced via the official Facebook Safety page.
