According to unnamed sources, the company’s new trade-in program would work similar to its current one for Apple devices. This would allow customers to trade in their old devices for a gift card that can be used in the store, reports 9to5Mac.

Apple Store retail employees will be trained on the trade-in program and will inspect a device’s cosmetic and functional value for the trade. These employees would reportedly be able to transfer contact information from the old phone to a new device, but everything else must be handled by the user, 9to5Mac notes.

“Apple can afford to pay more than the market value to get you to switch over, on the idea that you’re going to fall in love with the iOS ecosystem and stay for a long time,” Israel Ganot, former CEO of device trade-in company Gazelle, told Bloomberg.
