Jay Z has announced his own music streaming service called Tidal.
Jay Z, along with a group of various artists, collected together on Monday for Tidal’s announcement. The streaming service will be a unique offer as it will be owned by several artists that sign on to support it, reports The New York Times.
Here are a few things to know about Tidal, as collected from NYT.
- Rihanna, Kanye West, Madonna, Nicki Minaj, Jack White, Alicia Keys, Jason Aldean, Daft Punk, Beyonce and members of Aracde Fire have announced their support for the service.
- The service is subscription only with a $10 tier and $20 tier.
- The $10 tier will offer compressed audio and the $20 will offer CD quality audio.
- Tidal is avaialbe in 31 countries.
- The majority of shares in the service will be held for artists that sign exclusive deals with Tidal.
- Taylor Swift, who has removed her music from streaming service, has most of her songs available via the service.
- The service allows users to take a test and compare different audio types, with a free 14-day trial being the prize.
