WhatsApp, the messaging service owned by Facebook (NASDAQ:FB), will be able to handle voice calling the near future.

whatsapp-voice-calling-fbWhatsApp voice calling is a new feature that will be included in the version of the app running on Apple’s (NASDAQ:AAPL) iOS. The new feature will be free to use and was announced during Facebook’s F8 conference, reports AppAdvice.

WhatsApp already has a voice messaging feature, but this will make it so that users can actually just call each other through the app. Select Google (NASDAQ:GOOG,NASDAQ:GOOGL) Android users have already been testing the feature out and it’s expected to be available to everyone within the next couple of weeks, AppAdvice notes.

Facebook is also looking to introduce some major changes to its Messenger app. The company reportedly plans to add third-party app support to the service. This would allow users to customize the app to suit their needs.
