Several unnamed sources in the music industry claim that Apple is trying to end free music streaming streaming via music labels. These sources claim that the tech company is trying to push them toward not renewing their contracts with Spotify, reports The Verge.

Apple has also reportedly offered to buy YouTube’s music licensing fee from Universal Music Group to stop songs from being played on the video streaming service. This appears to be part of the company’s plan to remove competition before it relaunches its Beats music streaming service, The Verge notes.

Apple has also been working with several artists, such as Taylor Swift, to sign exclusive music streaming deals with them. It’s believed that the new Beats app could launch with iOS 9 and there’s also rumors that it will be available on Android devices, reports Business Insider.
