Facebook Inc (NASDAQ:FB) and International Business Machines Corp. (NYSE:IBM) are teaming up to help bring better targeted ads to users.

facebook-advertising-news-fb-ibmThe deal between the two companies will bring Facebook’s Custom Audience data to IBM’s Marketing Cloud. This will allow brands to take advantage of information regarding one of the website’s  users and use it to better target them with ads, reports Fortune.

Facebook and IBM said that there are already some brands that use this data for their ads. However, they didn’t drop any names. More services that will use the data are also in production as part of a project called BM Commerce THINKLab. The data from the social media service could give IBM an edge over other marketers. It also has a deal for data from Twitter Inc (NYSE:TWTR), Fortune notes.

“Over the past few years IBM has invested $24 billion in analytics,” Jay Henderson, director for IBM Commerce, told TechCrunch. “This investment now includes our latest innovation, Journey Analytics. Now our clients, including some of the world’s largest banks, retailers, and insurance companies, can apply these analytics to the reach of Facebook.”
