Under Armour Pulls ‘Band of Ballers’ T-Shirt Using Iwo Jima Imagery

Under Armour Inc (NYSE:UA) has pulled a shirt from stores that uses Iwo Jima imagery.

It has a design on the front that includes the silhouettes of basketball players working together to put a hoop up. The shirt shares its imagery with the photo of American soldiers raising the flag at the Battle of Iwo Jima, reports Business Inisder.

Comparing basketball players to soldiers didn’t fly with everyone and Under Armour received several complaints about the shirt. The company apologized for the shirt and pulled it from all retail outlets, Business Insider notes.

Following Under Armour’s pulling of the Band of Ballers T-shirt, several listings started appearing on eBay Inc (NASDAQ:EBAY). Some went up to $150 before they were taken down by the website, reports Bloomberg.
