An image of a vortex draining Lake Texoma terrified people in the Texas-Oklahoma border this week.
The lake appeared to be draining itself in a counter-clockwise motion, similar to the way a toilet drains when you flush it. However, there was no reason for concern despite how scary it may look.
The US Army Corps of Engineers said the vortex was created by the Army Corps opening floodgates at the bottom of the lake to drain the water into the Red River. Needless to say, boating is not allowed in this area as long as the vortex is there.
Lake Texoma is one of the largest reservoirs in the United States.
