Yahoo (YHOO) has announced that it will be shutting down several of its services.
The Yhaoo services that are being shut down were announced in the company’s progress report for the second quarter. YHOO claims it’s shutting down these services so that it can better focus on more popular ones. Many of these service will cease to work starting sometime in June.
Here is a list of the Yahoo services that are being shut down.
- Mail on devices running Apple’s (AAPL) iOS 4 or older.
- Syncing Contacts on Macs running OS X 10.7 Lion or earlier.
- Yahoo Maps will be shutting down, but will still show up in searches and other services.
- The GeoPlanet & PlaceSpotter APIs are shutting down in favor of Yahoo Query Language.
- Yhaoo Pipes will close at the end of August.
- Music will shut down in Canada and France.
- Movies in Spain will close.
- TV in the UK, France, Germany, Spain, Italy and Canada will come to an end.
- Autos in the UK, France, Germany, Spain and Italy are ending.
- Entertainment in Singapore will end.
- The Yahoo homepage and genre-specific media sites in the Philippines will close and will redirect to the Singapore homepage.
