Amazon wants to lease 20 Boeing 767 jets to handle deliveries of its products. It’s reportedly been in talks with several companies about leasing jets from them. One industry insider believes that the online retailer will initiate plans for an air delivery system by the end of January, reports The Seattle Times.

Amazon has already been testing handling the shipping of its own products at a cargo hub in Wilmington, Ohio. This new effort would likely be an expansion of that. The Boeing 767 jets can carry up to 19 pallets, but may be hard to come by due to their popularity, The Seattle Times notes.

Amazon has been working on new ways to deliver packages to customers more quickly. One front that is has put considerable effort into is using drones to deliver packages straight from its warehouses. It recently revealed a new hybrid drone that can handle this job.

Amazon also recently purchased thousands of trailers for delivering its products to different facilities. This is also part of its effort to speed up delivery times.
