Baidu (BIDU), a Chinese internet search company, is looking to make its own driverless cars.

Baidu logoBaidu wants to make driverless cars that can be used as shuttles. It wants to have these cars out by 2019. The company said that it’s in talks with car manufacturers over its project, but didn’t go into detail on the matter, reports The Wall Street Journal.

Baidu has already been testing out its autonomous cars on highways in China. The car uses Lidar and cameras to detect what’s around it. It also takes advantage of the company’s mapping information and deep learning technology to make decisions while on the road. BIDU wants to test the driverless car in more strenuous situations, WSJ notes.

During Baidu’s test of its self-driving car, it was able to perform several complex actions. This included making U-turns, merging from ramps into traffic and more. The car’s decisions are made by the Baidu AutoBrain, reports CNBC.
