Ford (F) has revealed a new app called FordPass that isn’t just for owners of its cars.
The FordPass app is designed to better connect people to their world around them. This includes the ability to reserve parking and hail rides with the app. It will also feature a digital wallet to handle paying for these services and a loyalty program, reports ZDNet.
The FordPass app will also have extra features for Ford owners that have vehicles with Sync installed. They can start their cars remotely, unlock and lock doors and more. The company also wants this to be able to connect to smart devices in the home for more connectivity, ZDNet notes.
“It was really competitive, with people moving between rooms trying to determine what owners, ride-sharers and general commuters would want out of a world-class customer experience,” Elena Ford, vice president of Global Dealer and Consumer Experience at Ford, said of the development process for FordPass.
FordPass will be released this Spring.
F shares were up 1% as of Monday morning.
