Investigation Reveals Details of 2015 Hyatt Data Breach

Hyatt (H) has revealed the details of the Hyatt data breach that occurred in 2015.

hyatt-data-breach-details-hThese new details come from the finished investigation into the Hyatt data breach. It discovered that malware had infected its systems and that it was designed to collect information from payment cards.

The Hyatt data breach put cards at a small amount of cards at risk starting on July 30, 2015. However, the large threat from the malware was took place from August 13, 2015 to December 8, 2015. Restaurants inside Hyatt locations were the main targets of the data breach.

The investigation also contains a list of hotels and locations that were affected by the Hyatt data breach. It includes locations in more than half the states in the U.S. and many other locations in other countries. The full list can be found here.

The Hyatt data breach was first announced to customers late in December. The company said that it increased security after the breach in an effort to provide better protection to visitors of its hotels.

H shares were down 6% as of Noon Friday.
