Lionel Messi has announced his retirement from international football.
The soccer star and his Argentina side lost the Copa America Centenario (100th anniversary) final against Chile for the second year in a row, prompting the forward to call it quits in the international stage.
Messi and co. were also the runners-up of the 2014 World Cup against Germany. The fact that he had lost three finals in three years with Argentina may have something to do with his decision.
However, he still has several good years in him and chances are he will return to the big stage come the 2018 World Cup.
Either way, Messi’s talents will still be in display in the Iberian peninsula as the Argentine will continue plying his trade with his club Barcelona.
