World of Warcraft is launching a new expansion pack.
Activision Blizzard, Inc. (NASDAQ:ATVI) is looking to breath new life into the game — whose popularity peaked in the mid-2000s — with an incredibly large expansion pack.
Here are 11 things to know about it:
- There are new weapons in the game, as well as more armor that you can wear.
- The PvP Reward System has been adjusted to fit a player’s level.
- You can no longer use Honor Points or Currency Points as currency.
- There is a new aura in certain PvP combat called Principles of War.
- The 5v5 arena will no longer exist in World of Warcraft.
- Normal, Heroic and Mythic difficulties will be easier now as opponents will deal 30% less damage.
- The Brawler’s Guild and the Stranglethorn Fishing Extravaganza will both be in a temporary period of hiatus.
- There are now no limits on how much crafted gear can be equipped onto your character.
- World of Warcraft characters can change betweeen specializations outside of combat.
- Gnomes can now be Hunters.
- A redesign of the Human Spirit ensures that Human characters gain an extra 1% of all secondary stats — Haste, Critical Strike, Mastery, and Versatility — from all sources.
ATVI stock is down 1.5%.
