National Toy of Fame 2016: Care Bears, Transformers, 10 Others Make Finalists List

The finalist for the National Toy of Fame 2016 have been selected.

National Toy of Fame, Hasbro, HAS, Mattel, MATThe National Toy Hall of Fame is looking at 12 different toys that could be named the National Toy of Fame in 2016. However, there will likely only be two or three toys selected to enter the National Toy Hall of Fame this year. The winners will be announced at Thursday, November 10, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. Eastern Time.

Here are the 12 finalist competing to be the National Toy of Fame for 2016.

  • Bubble Wrap — While not created as a toy, this entry on the list has offered hours on entertainment for both kids and adults.
  • Care Bears — The toys were introduced in the in the early 1980s and went on to star in their own animated television show.
  • Clue — The Hasbro, Inc. (NASDAQ:HAS) board game was patented in 1947 and has players trying to solve the mystery surrounding a murder.
  • Coloring Book — Coloring books have been entertaining kids for decades and ones aimed at adults are becoming more popular.
  • Dungeons & Dragons — D&D came out in the 1970s and it lets players create and experience adventures in a fantasy setting.
  • Fisher-Price Little People — These toys from Mattel, Inc. (NASDAQ:MAT) first showed up in 1959.
  • Nerf — This toy was first introduced as a ball that was safe for inside play in the 1960s.
  • Pinball — These machines challenge players to rack up points while hitting a ball across a board with flippers.
  • Rock ‘Em Sock ‘Em Robots — This fighting toy first came out in 1965 and is still being made to this day.
  • Swing — Swings have been around longer than any other toy on this list with many ancient drawings depicting them.
  • Transformers — These robots in disguise came out in the 1980s and were accompanied by a comic, tv series, movies and more.
  • Uno — 1971 was the year that this card game came out and it has entertained players ever since.
