Nintendo NX Console to Use Cartridges Not Discs

The Nintendo NX console will reportedly use cartridges rather than discs.

Nintendo NXThe video game giant has yet to confirm or deny these rumors, but sources close to the matter claim that this will be the case. The console will be small and portable, much like the devices that the company has been making in recent years.

The Tokyo Game Show will take place on September 15, and it is possible that Nintendo will make an official announcement regarding the NX’s use of cartridges, as well as more details on what the gadget will entail.

The company recently revealed that Super Mario Maker and Yoshi’s Woolly World will be released for the Nintendo 3DS very soon. The video game maker announced a few months ago that it is launching a throwback NES console that will come with 30 classic games and retail for $60.

You can pay an extra $10 for a second controller that will allow you to play multiplayer games on the console.

Sony (NYSE:SNE) and its flagship PlayStation franchise recently announced that two consoles will be released soon, including the PS4.5, also known as the Neo. Additionally, a thinner version of the PS4 is in the works.

In other video game news, Microsoft (NASDAQ:MSFT) has announced its September selection of Xbox Live Games With Gold, which includes two Xbox 360 games as well as two Xbox One games.
