The Last Guardian, a game being published by Sony Corp (ADR) (NYSE:SNE) for the PlayStation 4, has been delayed again.
Shuhei Yoshida, the President of Sony Computer Entertainment Worldwide Studios, announced that The Last Guardian had been delayed again in post published to the official PlayStation Blog on Monday. The new release date for the game is Dec. 6, 2016.
According to Yoshida, the developers decided to delay the game after they ran into more bugs than expected during its final stages of development.
The delay will hopefully mean that many of these bugs will be sorted out in time for the game’s release. However, it likely won’t surprise anyone if another delay is announced. The Last Guardian was originally set to come out on the PlayStation 3 in 2011, but delays pushed it back.
Several years went by before anything new was learned about The Last Guardian. It wasn’t until E3 2015 that the game was reintroduced to the public and announced as a PS4 game.
“Our development continues to push itself to the fullest and we look forward to revealing new content toward launch”, Yoshida said in his blog post. “We appreciate your continued support.”
