The sequel to the popular and critically acclaimed Guardians of the Galaxy film will feature much of the same cast, including Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Chris Pratt’s voice and Vin Diesel’s voice. Additionally, Diesel’s character Groot will have to take care of his infant Baby Groot, adding a level of cuteness to the fierce adventure film.
“This Summer The Galaxy Won’t Save Itself” reads the trailer in large words as we get a sneak peek of what will happen following the events of the first film. Writer and director James Gunn will return in both capacities, although the film series is based on the Marvel comic book series that was written by Arnold Drake.
The first Guardians of the Galaxy issue was released in 1969, with Gene Colan providing the artwork of the iconic superhero team. With new Avengers and Justice League films on the horizon, this superhero crew has stern competition but perhaps it benefits for being more easily accessed by audiences of all ages.
The 2014 Guardians of the Galaxy film is among the IMDB Top 250 films of all time, netting an 8.1 rating out of 10 stars. The movie grossed more than $774 million worldwide, with about $333 million of it coming from U.S. markets.
