General Motors (GM) has added several more models to its recall regarding ignition switches.

  • 2003-2007 Saturn Ions
  • 2006-2007 Chevrolet HHRs
  • 2006-2007 Pontiac Solstices
  • 2006-2007 Saturn Skys

The ignition switch problem behind the GM recall can result in the ignition being moved from the run position. This can be caused by jarring from a bumpy road or having extra weight on a key ring. If the ignition is moved out of the run position, it will also disable front airbags. Currently there are over 1.3 million cars affected by the recall.

Cars affected by the GM recall have resulted in 31 accidents and 13 fatalities.

The initial GM recall regarding faulty ignition switches took place two weeks ago after six people were killed in accidents due to the error. The first recall included Chevy Pontiac G5s and Chevy Cobalts. One attorney claims that GM knew about the ignition switch issue 10 years ago but didn’t do anything about it.
