Passengers on a Virgin Airlines flight got a hijack scare when a drunk passenger tried to enter the cockpit of the plane.
The drunk passenger, identified as Matt Christopher Lockley, tried to enter the cockpit of the plane an hour before it was scheduled to land. Crew memebers on the plane seized Lockley and restrained him for the duration of the flight. The pilot told Indonesian air traffic controllers of a possible hijack attempt and the man was arrested when the plane landed, reports The Chicago Tribune.
When Lockley was arrested, police tried to figure out why he wanted in the cockpit. However, the drunk passenger was still in no condition to talk to authorities after being arrested. It was learned that Lockley was travelling alone, The Tribune notes.
When the Virgin Airlines flight landed in Bali, Indonesia, it was surrounded by air force troops. The military was brought in because the initial alert was for a hijacking. The plane also had to park at the end of the runway just in case explosives were involved, reports The Washington Post.
