The most environmentally-friendly vehicle is Tesla Motors’ (TSLA) Model S, according to the American Automobile Association (AAA).
The Model S came out on top in the AAA’s 2014 Green Car Guide, which evaluated 83 “green” vehicles on a variety of criteria. The AAA survey included electric cars like the TLSA Model S, as well as hybrids and high-efficiency gasoline-powered cars, AutoBlogGreen notes.
However, the AAA only offers two explicitly “green” categories for vehicles. While he TSLA model S obtained highest scores in both emissions and fuel economy, so did all the other electric cars in the guide.
The TSLA Model S scored highly in braking, crashworthiness, visibility, slalom handling, ride quality, interior noise, acceleration, but somewhat less well in ease of entry and exit, interior size, turning circle and luggage capacity.
Still, the AAA noted that the TSLA Model S achieved the top score for any green car when all the categories were taken together.
In Wednesday morning trading, Tesla stock slid almost 1%.
