Microsoft (MSFT) Taking a Bite out of Cybercrime

As one of the largest tech companies in the world, Microsoft Corporation (MSFT) naturally has an interest in fighting cybercrime. This is even more so the case today, as cybercrime continues to become a bigger problem with each passing year.

Not too long ago, robbing a bank meant rushing the front door and demanding money. Now, criminals have gone high-tech and will do whatever they can to use technology (or the lack thereof) to target the financial services industry.

Microsoft Goes the Extra Mile

microsoft stock-msftSo, how exactly is Microsoft planning to combat cybercrime? The company has announced a partnership with the Financial Services Information Sharing and Analysis Center (FS-ISAC).

With the pilot program in place, MSFT will be able to bring protection to millions of people and networks across the world. Here is what Richard Domingues Boscovich, assistant general counsel of Microsoft digital crimes unit had to say:

“Microsoft will make its Cyber Threat Intelligence Program feed available to participating FS-ISAC members, which will receive near real-time information on known malware infections affecting more than 67 million unique IP address. With this information, FS-ISAC members will be able to quickly identify infected computers on their networks and clean them of malware, through an automated, confidential and secure feed distributed via the cloud with Microsoft Azure.”

This is a win-win scenario. FS-ISAC members will have additional protection against cybercrime, while Microsoft continues to prove to the world that its security products are among the best of the best. Not to mention the fact that Microsoft Azure, a service the company has high hopes for, has been implemented into the partnership.

Moves like this often times go unnoticed by investors, but they can go a long way in helping the company remain relevant and continue to grow in key areas.

As of this writing, Chris Bibey did not hold a position in any of the aforementioned securities.
