4 Major Retailers Ordered to Stop Selling Their Herbal Supplements

Several major retailers have been ordered to stop selling their herbal supplements.

Herbal SupplementsA generic Walmart (WMT) version of echinacea was found to have no echinacea–the herb is designed to heal colds.

A GNC version of St. John’s wort had rice, garlic and tropical houseplant but no echinacea. It is used to treat depression.

Walgreens (WAG) and Target (TGT) also had supplements with deceptive ingredients. All stores received letters from the New York Attorney General demanding they stop selling misleading supplements.

The first three companies will comply, and Target has yet to respond.

WMT stock is up 0.56% Tuesday. TGT stock is up 2.18% and WAG stock is up 0.56%.

GNC stock is down 2.62%.
