Mall of America Fights ‘Black Lives Matter’ Protest

Black Lives Matter activists are being sued by Mall of America.

Four activists and four “John Does” who protested in the Minneapolis mall have a temporary restraining order, as well as an order that requires them to delete any social media posts promoting an upcoming demonstration at Mall of America.

The lawsuit also prohibits the Black Lives Matter activists from demonstrating at the mall. There was a protest by this group in Mall of America last year that drew more than 2,000 people.

Black Lives Matter announced plans to return to the mall on Dec. 23 to protest the fatal police shooting of Jamar Clark. Clark, 24, was shot and killed by Minneapolis police in November.

“Mall of America is a private commercial retail center, and we prohibit all forms of protest, demonstration and public debate on our property, including political activity aimed at organizing police or social groups,” Mall of America officials wrote in the letter.

The letter also threatened arrests if the demonstration continued as planned.
