Universal Pictures’ live-action Little Mermaid movie will have a blonde Ariel.

The role of Ariel for the new Little Mermaid movie will be filled by Chloe Moretz. According to Moretz, the new Ariel will be based on the original Hans Christian Andersen, in which she has blonde hair, and not the Disney (DIS) version with red hair, reports Christian Post.

Moretz also said that this new version of the Little Mermaid will differ from the original. She said that the film will be “a modern, revisionist tale” and that they are  “making it progressive for young women in this day and age,” Christian Post notes.
