Six Flags Entertainment Corp Commits to Using Only Cage-Free Eggs

Six FlagsSix Flags Entertainment Corp (NYSE:SIX) has announced that it will only be using cage-free eggs a decade from now.

The theme parks owner is following an initiative that has gained steam over the last couple of years, reporting that the only egg products in its locations will be produced from chicken laying eggs outside a cage, with sunlight and a healthy environment.

The company announced that this move will be complete by 2026. Senior vice president of in-park services David McKillips commented on the matter via Twitter, noting that it has joined the club to use cage-free eggs.

The move is designed to help link up the company’s mission with the needs of its communities. The move is already being lauded by animal activists.

Corporate engagement specialist for The Humane Society Joyana Hunt reported that the move is important, as it sets a standard for other theme parks to follow.

“American consumers are increasingly interested in this issue, making the cage-free switch both a good thing for customers and animals alike,” she added.

Six Flags recently revealed plans to add virtual reality roller coasters that will “blow people away.”

Other companies that have taken the pledge to only produce cage-free eggs include Kroger (NYSE:KR) and donut restaurant Krispy Kreme (NYSE:KDD), the latter of which is in the same timeline as Six Flags.

SIX stock is up 1.4% Thursday.
