Alphabet Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG,NASDAQ:GOOGL) is offering a Google Pixel trade-in program.
Here are 10 things to know about it:
- The Pixel 2 will launch in two weeks and Google is offering a trade-in program for the Pixel that’s available to a number of smartphone owners.
- Up to $385 will be offered for some phones depending on model and condition, which you can use towards a new Pixel.
- Filling in details about your phone will net you a valuation, along with a trade-in kit and a shipping label, plus a prepaid envelope.
- You then have 30 days to send the phone to Alphabet.
- Your valuation will be determined on the phone’s storage, the carrier it’s tied to, whether it turns on and the condition of the screen.
- Alphabet reviews the phone within five days of receipt, then sends the credit to the buyer’s credit card.
- The company will only pay for phones that have been factory reset, and it will send instructions on how to do this.
- Phones available as part of the trade in include the iPhone SE, iPhone 7 Plus, iPhone 7, iPhone 6s Plus, iPhone 6s, and iPhone 6 Plus, iPhone 6, Galaxy S8+, Galaxy S8, Galaxy S7 Edge, Galaxy S7, Galaxy Note 5, LG G6, Google’s Nexus 6P, Nexus 6 and its Nexus 5X.
- The trade-in program is part of the Google Store’s purchase page for the Pixel and Pixel XL, but it will likely also apply for the Pixel 2 and Pixel XL 2, which will start retailing at $650 and $850 respectively.
- Alphabet is also offering a trade-in program for Project Fi customers, netting customers up to a $388 Fi service credit or a credit card refund.
The services apply to U.S. customers.
