A new deadly dog flu has hit the U.S.

The H3-N2 virus is moving across the country, infecting canines in several regions such as Chicago, Missouri, Oklahoma
, Ohio, and more recently, an outbreak in the Seattle area.
The dog flu can cause hospitalization, or even death in rare cases. There is a vaccine that has been developed to protect dogs from the H3-N2 virus.
Veterinarians are warning that it is unknown where and when the dog flu will strike next. The illness is not seasonal, and outbreaks happen when a group of dogs is together.
The dog flu can turn into pneumonia, causing the dog to be hospitalized. Human beings and other animal’s are immune to the H3-N2 virus.
Dr. Belew — a vet from Union Hill Animal Hospital in Kansas City, Mo. offered advice on how to protect your pup. Make sure “their bordetella, their kennel cough vaccine is current, they’re current on the available influenza vaccine, and they’re an otherwise healthy animal.”
Following these precautions will likely ensure your dog’s health.
