Angela Raiola was one of the stars of the hit TV show Mob Wives, and it appears as if she is no longer with us. Friend Vinnie Medugno confirmed on the TV personality’s official Twitter account that she died early Thursday morning.
Here are five things to remember her by:
- Known by her friends as “Big Ang,” the mob wife suffered a long battle with cancer that eventually lead to her death. “It is with sad regret that at 3:01 a.m., Angela Raiola peacefully ended her battle with cancer, and was called home,” Medugno wrote on behalf of Big Ang’s family.
- Raiola’s friend added that she was surrounded by love from her immediate family and closest friends. And even in her death bed, she spoke of her love for her fans whom she loved immensely.
- In December, it was confirmed that Raiola’s throat cancer had returned. A lemon-size tumor was discovered in March, and removed from her throat.
- The year was marked by procedures to eliminate the cancer, but the illness spread and she was diagnosed with stage 4 brain and lung cancer. A GoFundMe page to help with doctor fees was created in February, raising over $45,000 in two weeks.
- Big Ang left her husband, Neil Murphy, as she continued her cancer battle. “I felt like he never stepped up to the plate, so I was done with it,” she said. “Now, it’s too late. I would rather be by myself. I would rather be alone.”
“She truly went out richer than any monetary value could ever amount to,” Medugno wrote.”The family asks for privacy and peace during this most difficult time.”
