Amazon to Release Woody Allen’s Next Movie

Amazon (NASDAQ:AMZN) is the home of Woody Allen’s next flick.

Amazon

The online retailer continues its bid to become one of the preeminent platforms for online video streaming by adding some quality to its fold with the new Woody Allen movie, which will be available on Prime video later this year.

The company announced Thursday that is has bought the North American rights to the film, which has yet to be title. Following the movie’s theatrical release this summer, it will only be available on Amazon Prime.

The film sounds captivating–it is a period romantic comedy set in the 1930s with a star-studded cast that includes Steve Carell, Blake Lively, Kristen Stewart and Jesse Eisenberg.

Amazon and Allen are also partnering up for a six-episode television series starring the thick-glassed actor, director, screenwriter and comedian Woody Allen opposite pop sensation Miley Cyrus.

The company is also stepping up its shipment business as it was revealed earlier this week that Amazon is expanding its delivery service with on-demand drivers.

AMZN stock is up 1.89% Friday.
