A 21st century version of the Firebird Trans Am — the vehicle that helped launch Burt Reynolds into superstardom — is being release.

Firebird Trans Am

The legendary 80-year-old actor was the object of women’s desires and the envy of men everywhere when he starred in the 1977 film Smokey and the Bandit, rocking the original Firebird Trans Am.

Now, Pontiac

is paying tribute to the film and actor by rolling out a limited edition version of the vehicle, with 2016 technology and a sleeker look replacing the classic muscle car.

“It was hot in every way. It’s a love story and most guys had a love story with their car,” Burt Reynolds said in a video promoting the new car.

The Firebird Trans Am Bandit Edition has seats that look strikingly similar to the ’78 Trans Am with an impressive engine that can produce 840 horsepower, as well as a crafted Bandit logo inside.

The vehicle is being released alongside Reynolds’ The Bandit, a documentary that looks at the car from the film.
