The event marks one of the most anticipated periods in racing in the U.S., with several coveted trophies up for grabs. Here are five things to know about the 2016 Long Beach Grand Prix:

  • It takes place from Friday, April 15 through Sunday, April 17.
  • Fans of all types of racing will be happy as the weekend includes the Verizon IndyCar Series, IMSA Sports Car Grand Prix at Long Beach with the cars of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, 40th anniversary Toyota Pro/Celebrity Race, Pirelli World Challenge, SPEED Energy Stadium SUPER Trucks and Motegi Racing Super Drift Challenge.
  • The Long Beach Grand Prix is considered to be one of the best venues around, with two-time Long Beach champion Will Power saying it is only second to the Indy 500.
  • The event takes place at the Long Beach Convention Center, which is home to the circuit that totals 1.968 miles and 12 turns.
  • Ed Jones is the most recent winner, grabbing the title in 2015.
