United Continental Holdings Inc (NYSE:UAL) stock was up on Wednesday following its earnings report for the second quarter of 2016.
United Continental reported earnings per share of $2.61 for Q2 2016. This is down from the $3.31 that it reported during the same time last year. However, it was above the $2.56 that Wall Street was expecting.
UAL’s revenue for Q2 2016 came in at $9.39 billion, which is roughly a 5% increase from revenue reported in Q2 2015. Analysts’ estimates for the company included revenue of $9.38 billion for the quarter.
United Continental repurchased $694 million worth of its stock in Q2. It had $255 million remaining in its share repurchase program and the Board of Directors has approved an additional $2 billion for share repurchase.
UAL shares were up 3% as of Wednesday morning.
