Chipotle Mexican Grill (NYSE: CMG)The U.S. Attoney’s Office for the District of Columbia is investigating the hiring practices of Chipotle Mexican Grill (NYSE:CMG).

Chipotle CEO Monty Moran — in a call following it’s first quarter results — confirmed the investigation, Nation’s Restaurant News reports.

The latest move by the U.S. Attorney’s Office is requesting from Chipotle hiring documentation for all employees since 2007. In an earlier investigation, the Securities and Exchange Commission announced it was conducting a civil probe into the chain’s hiring practices.

Prior to this, a 2011 investigation by the U.S. Immigrations and Customs Enforcement Agency looked into the chain’s immigration documents for workers in Minnesota, Virginia and the District of Columbia. 450 workers were subsequently fired when they could not provide proper work papers.

“We’ll continue to cooperate with the government and its investigation, which we believe will be ongoing for quite a while, as it will take some time to comply with these most recent requests and will also take the government some time to digest the information we are providing,” said Moran during the call.
