Amazon (AMZN) has released the beta of its new Amazon Wallet app.

The Amazon Wallet beta is available on the company’s app store and on Google’s (GOOG) Play Store. While the app is called Wallet, it doesn’t actually let users store money on it or use it for payments. However, the app is still in its beta and this could change, reports Mashable.

What Amazon Wallet does allow users to do is keep track of their gift card balances and reward points from loyalty cards. The process works by registering the cards with the app. After this, it will keep track of the balances and rewards on those cards. The service works with more cards than just the ones offered by the online retailer, Mashable notes.

Amazon Wallet will come already installed on the company’s Fire Phone. If the app is expanded to make it able to pay for items, it could work very well with the device. The Fire Phone allows users to look up items on the company’s website simply by looking at them with its camera, reports TechRadar UK.
