Google (GOOG) Glass may not be the revolutionary product the company wanted it to be.

According to Reuters, the momentum behind Google Glass has started to dwindle as app developers are abandoning the wearable technology. Of the 16 apps developers that the news source talked to, nine said they’ve stopped working on Glass apps and three said they’ve switched solely to business apps.

Another factor that may be affecting Google Glass is the departure of several employees that were critical in its development. This includes lead developer Babak Parviz, electrical engineering chief Adrian Wong and director of developer relations Ossama Alami. Despite these departures, the tech company claimed to be dedicated to Glass with hundreds of employees working on the project, reports Reuters.

“I predicted it would become this era’s Segway: hyped as a game changer but ultimately used by warehouse workers and mall cops,” TechCrunch’s Mike Butcher wrote in an article about Google Glass.

GOOG shares were down 1% as of Monday afternoon.
