Webcam spying is a growing trend that many could avoid by simply changing the default password on their camera.

A Russian website containing live footage from private cameras in 250 countries has been discovered. Hackers accessed cameras from sidewalks, businesses, houses and more.

Most of the footage obtained by the website was easy to access because many users fail to change the default passwords on their cameras. David Emm, principal security researcher at Kaspersky Lab in the U.K., says that we are all at risk of being spied on if we don’t change our passwords.

“It only takes a minute to change a password, and the longer it is left unchanged, the greater the chance that the device will be compromised,” Emm said. He added that Kaspersky’s research shows that two-thirds of us are not aware that hackers are capable of accessing our webcams.

The Russian website’s webcam spying includes 4,591 feeds from the US and thousands more from around the world.
