Amazon Sellers Sold a Record 2 Billion Items in 2014

2014 was a great year for Amazon (AMZN) sellers.

Amazon sellers were able to sell more than 2 billion items worldwide in 2014. This is a new record for the company, which saw over 40% of items sold on its website done by its over 2 million sellers.

Amazon sellers are able to take advantage of Fulfillment by Amazon (FBA) to offer Prime benefits on their items. FBA is a service that allows sellers on the website to store their items with the company have have it ship those items from its location once they are bought.

“There are now more than a billion offers for customers to browse from sellers who are listing items for sale outside their home country,” Peter Faricy, VP for Amazon Marketplace, said in a statement. “The growth of mobile and the introduction of the Amazon Seller App have also been a big win for sellers this year.”
