Facebook (NASDAQ:FB) has introduced a new feature called “Place Tips” that could give Yelp (NYSE:YELP) a run for its money.

Facebook Place Tips shows users information regarding a place they are visiting. The service is getting ready to undergo tests in certain areas to offer more specific information about where the person is. Several Areas in New York City will be included in the upcoming tests.

Here are a few things to know about Facebook Place Tips.

• Accessing Place Tips doesn’t share a user’s location.
• The service will share posts and photos from friends that have visited that place.
• Information from the location’s official Facebook page is included in Place Tips.
• Place Tips can include things such as menu items in its information.
• It can be tunred on or off in the apps “Settings”.
• Place Tips is currently only available for Apple’s (NASDAQ:AAPL) iPhone.
