Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) Genius Bars will be getting a makeover in March.
The new Apple Genius Bar makeover is called “Concierge” and it will come into play during the week of March 9. Concierge is a new system that will calculate how long a person will have to wait to be serviced based on the current workload employees have. It will also move people up and down on the waiting list based on how serious their problem is, reports Cnet.
The Apple Genius Bar update is the idea of Angela Ahrendts, the company’s senior vice president of retail. The new system will reportedly allow those looking to have their devices fixed the ability to leave the store and return at a later time when they are sent a text message. This would free up space in Apple Stores and make them less cramped with people waiting in line, Cnet notes.
The use of test messages to alert customer of when the Apple Genius Bar is ready isn’t en entirely new concept. The company already has a system in place where it will text customer to pick up their iPhones during busy hours of the day, reports GeekWire.
