Tesla Motors Inc (NASDAQ:TSLA) has denied reports that it will be paying $25 an hour at its Nevada gigafactory.

tesla stock motors tsla stockTesla said that it has never announced how much it will pay workers that are employed at its upcoming gigafactory. $25 an hour would be above most workers in the auto industry. It would also surpass the starting pay of $17 an hour for employees that assemble the Model S, Detroit Free Press notes.

Tesla did say that it filed an application with Nevada that included projected hourly wages. However, it refused to comment on what wages would be. It’s possible that the electric car manufacturer could go with higher than average wages to try and discourage employees from forming a union, Detroit Free Press notes.

According to USA Today, which is one of the publications that reported Tesla would be paying $25 an hour at its gigafactory, the company is planning to hire 6,500 employees at the new location over the next 10 years.
