The decision was made by the fast-food chain’s franchise committee and will affect all of its 6,400 locations. Bottled water and milk are already on the menu as other options to replace soda, reports CNNMoney.

While removing soda from Dairy Queens’ kids menu is a move in the right direction, health advocates say that fast-food chains need to do more. They claim that 97% of food on kids menus isn’t healthy. Several other restaurants, such as McDonald’s Corporation (NYSE:MCD), have also removed soda from their kids menus, CNNMoney notes.

Parents that still want to order soda with a kids meal can do so. The item just won’t be showing on menus as being included with the meal anymore, reports The Columbus Dispatch.
