Joss Whedon, director of Avengers: Age of Ultron, has quit Twitter Inc (NYSE:TWTR) following backlash related to his most recent film.
Joss Whedon hasn’t specifically announced why he left Twitter, but many believe it’s due to the Avengers backlash. Specifically, Whedon was targeted by users that felt he let Black Widow, played by Scarlett Johansson, be portrayed negatively in the film. It’s believed that much of the criticism came from feminists, reports The Independent.
According to The Independent Joss Whedon’s final Tweet read as follows:
“Thank you to all the people who’ve been so kind and funny and inspiring up in here.”
