Faceshift: Apple (AAPL) may have quietly acquired Swiss company Faceshift, reports MacRumors. The tech company has placed a job listing for a Software Engineer with a PhD that would join its Camera and Media Algorithms Group. The job lists the workplace as the company’s Swiss headquarters. This job listing isn’t enough to support the rumor that AAPL bought Facechisft, but there’s more. The motion-capture company’s directors stepped down in August and were replaced by Baker & McKenzie’s mergers and acquisitions attorney Martin Frey. Apple has used Baker’ services in the past, specifically in Switzerland, for trademarks and other actions.
Cases: Apple fans that are looking to get their hands on the iPhone 6s or 6s Plus may not need a new case for their smartphones, AppleInsider notes. Due to the similar sizes of the iPhone 6 and 6s, users can likely use the same cases for their new phones. The tech company states that its own iPhone 6 cases will still work with the iPhone 6s and its possible that third-party cases will also still fit the new smartphones. This could save buyers the costs of having to purchase a new case for their iPhone 6s, which is only slightly thicker than the iPhone 6.
Shipping: Some customers that have placed orders for the iPhone 6s Plus are seeing long wait times, reports 9to5Mac. Many new customers that order the iPhone 6s Plus are seeing wait times ranging from three weeks to five weeks. It was thought that these wait times were the result of the smartphones being popular enough to warrant supplies running out. However, KGI Securities claims this is actually due to limited quantities of the device being available. It claims these wait times are due to supply restraints on the backlight hardware for the iPhone 6s Plus.
