US Airways will take its last flight today as it finishes its merger with American Airlines (AAL).

us-airways-aalThe last US Airways trip will be Flight 1939 from San Francisco to Philadelphia. The flight will start at 9:55 p.m. Pacific Time and is scheduled to land at 6:18 a.m. Eastern Time the next morning. Having the last trip named Flight 1939 is a throwback to US Airways formation in 1939 when it was still called All American Aviation, reports USA Today.

Travelers that are on the last US Airways flight tonight will cheer the company’s name with and toast champagne. The plane will make a couple of trips today before it takes its final flight tonight. There will be other celebrations at each of the plane’s stops, USA Today notes.

American Airlines has been working for the last few months to make sure its merger with US Airways works out well. The company combined the two frequent-flier programs in Spring and stopped taking reservations for US Airways flights in July. However, there is still concern as other major airline mergers have resulted in problems shortly after occurring, reports CNBC.
